PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Public Administration program leads to a Master's of Public Administration (MPA) degree. This program is designed to be a part-time program for working adults. The students are often employed in community service agencies, law enforcement, and education. All classes meet for full days on weekends, with each course consisting of five class sessions. Students will join cohorts that meet on either Saturdays or Sundays, and remain with their cohort for the duration of the program.
The Public Administration program requires either 36 or 38 credits, depending on whether or not a student has agency or educational administrative experience. Students who have experience complete the 36-credit program; students who do not have experience are required to complete a fieldwork course, which adds an additional 2 credits to their program. The curriculum consists of six core courses that are required and four elective courses which allow the student to choose an area of specialization. Core courses are designed to relate to the needs of those intending to serve in administrative and managerial roles. Elective courses include courses in Healthcare Management, Nonprofit Management and Criminal Justice Management. Students who follow the sequence outlined below can expect to complete the program in 15 months.
