Here you will find the information you need to get started in the
Alfred University Downstate program of your choice.
MASTER’S DEGREE IN SCHOOL COUNSELING
Getting Started: MS in School Counseling
Applicants to the Alfred University Downstate (off-campus) program go through the same admissions screening as applicants to the on-campus counseling program. All admissions decisions are made by full-time Alfred University faculty who are members of the counseling program admissions committee.

MS in School Counseling The following items are required as part of the application process: |

A completed Alfred University graduate school application |
| • |
Official sealed transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate work |
| •
|
Two letters of recommendation from individuals (supervisors, previous professors) who can attest to your qualifications for graduate study |
| • |
A written personal statement |
| • |
A personal interview with program faculty |
Applicants whose written materials meet the basic requirements for admission will be interviewed periodically during the school year. We will contact applicants to schedule interviews.

Applicants to the Alfred University Downstate (off-campus) program go through the same admissions screening as applicants to the on-campus literacy program. All admissions decisions are made by full-time Alfred University faculty who are members of the literacy program admissions committee.

CERTIFICATE OF ADVANCED STUDY IN MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING

AU Downstate Counseling Program Alumni
Graduates of the Downstate School Counseling must complete an abbreviated application form that updates personal information and indicates that they are applying to the program. Once admitted to the program, they must again pay a $200 enrollments deposit that will be refunded once they complete the program. There are no other materials required for AU Downstate Alumni.
